Ragdoll Origins
Ann Baker (early 1960)

The Ragdolls were originated by Ann Baker, a breeder in Riverside, California. It was in early 1960 that the breed was created. It is believed that a white Persian-Angora like cat named Josephine with outcrossings to Birman-like and Burmese-like cats started it all.

•  Our Sires

The sires (males) of BethelCats have been specifically chosen for our breeding program due to their outstanding color, temperment, pedigree, and quality of show. Our males are either currently participating in TICA (The International Cat Association) or CFA (Cat Fancier's Association) cat shows or have participated in the past to receive a title of recognition.

With many thanks to these fine boys, our breeding program has been quite successful and has produced many wonderful kittens. Some kittens have gone on to homes as normal pets, while some have gone on to be breeders or show champions of their own.

Christian is a blue point bi-color. He loves to show affection and enjoys being groomed.  When we brush him he will flop on his back in the traditional Ragdoll style and begin purring.  Although he is now retired from showing, he is happily active as a sire in our cattery.  We are very pleased to have him as our foundation male, as he has proven to produce exceptional quality kittens.
